From businesses and local attractions to schools and local government, the city of Memphis is always on the lookout for fresh, new ideas and strong talent—and that’s where the New Memphis Initiative comes in. The New Memphis Initiative is forging ahead to build a more prosperous community for the city and its residents, and the ultimate goal involves attracting, developing, activating and retaining talent to help embrace and reinforce all that Memphis has to offer residents and visitors alike. The Initiative aims to keep the rich culture first and foremost by focusing on the following initiatives:

Speak Out: Through a unique and powerful blend of traditional and digital media, the New Memphis Initiative is producing and sharing content to convey to the world that Memphis is a city that’s growing and on the rise—especially when it comes to bigger and better community events, activities and services. From implementing education reform to building livable communities, the New Memphis Initiative’s Speak Out program is focused on informing the public about how the city is pushing toward cultural improvement for all.

Celebrate What’s Right Luncheons: It stands to reason that the things into which you put the most time, effort and energy are also the things that tend to see the most progress and improvement. With this in mind, the New Memphis Initiative is keeping its sights set on the achievements of businesses, government, schools, cultural groups and communities in Memphis by acknowledging these at Celebrate What’s Right Luncheons. The luncheons are also a time for the community to come together and hear from those leading the charge to bring the New Memphis Initiative’s vision to life.

Exposure: A celebration of all things Memphis, the Exposure program highlights the great city on Sept. 1, also known as 901 Day. A core component of the event is the Memphis 101 insight program, which is designed to be a fun and interactive crash course on all things Memphis. Culture, traditions, history, cuisines, businesses and communities are at the forefront of this education program, and they encourage both residents and visitors to drop by and learn more about Memphis.

Instant Memphian: As the final component of the New Memphis Initiative’s lineup, Instant Memphian is proving to be an effective way to expose residents and visitors alike to everything the city has to offer. A high-energy run-through of essential Memphis info, this hour-long presentation is packed with fun activities, interesting insights, useful tips, need-to-know event details, updates on citywide initiatives and events and plenty of ways to engage and give back to the city of Memphis.

Contact New Memphis today to learn more about what’s planned, as well as how you can connect with the cultural richness of the great city of Memphis.
